Having the intention to leave for the Far East in the near future,

I would be thankful if you would kindly furnish me with a reply to the

following questions:-

1) Shall I be allowed to go ashore at British ports i.e., Port Said,

Colombo, Singapore or wherever the boat (probably a Dutch steamer)

will call?

2) If so, must I have a visa for these ports in my passport and who

would be the competent authority to furnish the visa?

I intend to first go to Java and from there to Japan and China,

including Hongkong.

I shall esteem it a favor if you will be kind enough to advise

me as regards the visa for Hongkong.
